Choosing wedding dress colours

Stop believing self-appointed internet gurus who are too lazy to take colour training and end up writing rubbish…

“Dear Kim, I have a potential client who would love to find out her skin tone so she can find a wedding dress. However, I’m a bit confused because 5 bridal web sites that I visited are writing the opposite of what I thought to be true.

For example, for Cool undertones they are suggesting warmer bridal gowns such as cream and beige to achieve a more warmer look. For Cool tones I would suggest either white or soft white. Then the exact opposite for the Warms…they suggest going into bright white. For the Warms I would suggest the opposite!

Can you please help me out with this, so I don’t make a mistake. Thank you so much, Barroburga”

Dear Barroburga,

Are any of these bridal websites trained in colour analysis?

Clearly not.

They’re just copying stuff they find elsewhere online, because they’re too lazy to take colour training or research the truth for themselves, and end up posting absolute garbage.

The proof is always in the pudding.

What does the client LOOK good wearing?

Those with Warm colouring look far better in Warm clothes, accessories, etc. that complement their physical colouring.

A Warm woman wearing brilliant white will not be ‘seen’ in her wedding photos. We will see the dress a hundred years before we notice HER, and then she’ll look pale and ill.

You need to remind your client that she, and everyone who looks at the bridal album, will have to look at her wedding photos for the next 50 years…

You need to be able to direct your clients to a bridal shop/website that DOES know what they’re talking about…

This could be an opportunity for you to find one locally?

And I would definitely use this online rubbish to promote what you do…

Tell your readers that it’s uneducated nonsense written by people who haven’t bothered to study colour so they have no idea what they’re talking about and let them know, “I’m a fully qualified colour expert. Let me show you how to choose a wedding dress that complements your physical and psychological colouring and will make you look beyond fabulous on the day and in the photo album for the next 900 years…”
