Thousands of years ago, I ran an all-day workshop for 6 female corporate professionals who wanted to know how to become highly-paid senior executives in their own fields.
Bertha kindly hosted this in her home on a Saturday so I wasn’t too surprised when one of the ladies walked in and plonked herself on the floor.
Petunia looked really comfortable and relaxed in jeans and a T-shirt, no make-up or jewellery, and had a short-ish haircut so that she could just run her fingers through it. And she looked about 16 years old!
But this 38-year-old lady got extremely upset at something I was explaining to the group.
Actually, Petunia totally blew her top, went purple with rage, burst into tears, marched up and down the room screaming and shouting at me and the rest of the world before sinking back to the floor in a crumpled heap.
You see, I’d been explaining some of the fascinating reasons why those looking to move up the corporate ladder often get by-passed for promotion.
This particular discussion was about wearing suits in the office (and don’t go assuming anything here because you weren’t there so you have no idea what I actually said!) and this was the trigger that set her off.
Petunia hated wearing suits:
- She didn’t see why she should
- She hated having to wear what was expected
- She felt as though she’d got a straight-jacket on
- She hated the office
- She hated her job
- She hated her life
- It all came puthering out amongst the screams and tears
To say we were all gob-smacked is an understatement but everyone rallied round and some clever soul put the kettle on, which is what we always do in a crisis in good ol’ Blighty, so all was soon tickety-boo again.
Finally, Bertha told me that Petunia was a solicitor.
Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather.
Because of all the people in all the world, Petunia should NEVER have become a solicitor, not in a million years!
She didn’t have the right colouring, the right personality, the right core values, the right attitudes.
She was absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, a square peg in a round hole.
Is that how YOU feel?
“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Albert Einstein
What Mr. Einstein was saying is that if you feel like a square peg in a round hole, then you are that fish.
You will never be able to climb that tree but, because you keep trying, for whatever reason (and it won’t be a good one, that’s for sure), you’ll end up feeling profoundly miserable because you know, deep down, that you are not a fish and you never can be!
My guess is that you are trying to live someone else’s dream.
Isn’t it time you stopped faffing about and discovered what you’d be happier doing?
Isn’t it time you lived YOUR OWN dream?
You need to find out who you are, what it is you want to do, how you want to live your life, what makes you tick, and then build your future (a business?) around that.
I know what it’s like to be all lathered up and wondering how on earth to make a living from colour, etc.
I spent hundreds of years faffing about, doing exactly what the rest are still doing – offering everything to everybody and their mother, and IT DOES NOT WORK.
I was like that fish, trying to climb a tree.
I was offering one-to-one colour consultations and I hated it. I found myself having to grit my teeth every single time, just like Petunia must have felt going in to that law office every day.
Finally, having worked through the exercises that I’ve collated for you in the Mindset, Motivation, and Marketing course, I discovered what I’m really good at.
So I stopped faffing about, doing all the stuff I’m really not cut out to do, and started to focus on what makes me happy.
And amazingly, I then saw that my clients were a lot happier!
Now you can follow the same process because we videoed a live event, where you can watch 6x real image professionals asking questions and working through the exercises and course materials.
The purpose of Mindset, Motivation, & Marketing course is to make you stop and think about what you’re doing, and why
It’s about… you, your personality, your attitudes, what motivates you to get out of bed, what kind of business you really want to run, and if you really want to run one at all.
You’ll also take close look at the psychology of marketing. Once you understand how other types of people think, you will be able to promote yourself so much more effectively and you’ll make a lot more money more easily.
Through this process, you’ll easily be able to identify your own personal skills and enthusiasms.
Then you can transform those into a focused business plan that actually produces an income.
Just to reassure you
You are perfectly normal. We all get in a tizz about this at some point.
Acknowledging that you might be that fish is the first step to take.
Most people whinge about what’s not working and never do anything about it – and guess what happens to them…? Sad, but true.
Mindset, Motivation, & Marketing can help you decide what your next best step could be.
So, what happened to Petunia?
You will be pleased to learn that, before the workshop had even ended, Bertha had telephoned her own personal trainer and set up an appointment for Petunia to talk with him about possible training and career opportunities.
Just a few weeks later, Petunia left the legal world forever and started a new adventure in a world much more suited to a Natural Yellow/Green Warm Autumn.
She’s much happier now, and isn’t that the point?
Petunia’s personal profile:
- Natural = style personality
- Yellow/Green = colour psychology type
- Warm Autumn = physical colouring
When I know these 3 things about you, it’s as plain as the nose on your face what you should and shouldn’t be doing with your life!
If you feel like a square peg in a round hole
You can work through the exercises yourself in Mindset, Motivation, & Marketing
Or talk to me about how we could do this together. My super power is helping you to stop faffing, make the next best decison for you, and to Just Flippin’ Do It!
