I simply HAVE to include Style Personality when I’m working with a client. This may not be crucial for you but, hopefully, this explanation of why will stir those little grey cells and encourage you to think about what really works for you! It’s crucial for the way my brain works.
Reason 1
Over the last seven hundred years I have tried all sorts of combinations of Style Personality types. In the beginning there were four: Classic, Dramatic, Natural, and Romantic. Then, for a variety of reasons that I can address another time, we added ‘Creative’ and ‘Continental’.
The word ‘Continental’ caused some disputes so we changed it to ‘Eurochic’ and then to ‘City Chic’ but, unfortunately, there are people out there who simply cannot (or will not) pronounce French words correctly and I got sick and tired of hearing Euro Chick and City Chick so I stopped using it.
NB. The French word ‘chic’ is pronounced ‘sheek’
We finally replaced all that nonsense with ‘European’ – a word that most could agree on or, at least, not get their knickers in a twist about! Personally, I prefer ‘Armani’ but, hey, it doesn’t matter one jot what I call it. It only matters what my client calls it!
But all these different types, and all the possible naming conventions for them, had simply become too much for me, and for my clients! So, when I was creating my Personal Style Course, I decided to keep it simple and focus on six Style Personality types:
- Classic
- Romantic
- Dramatic
- Natural
- European
- Creative
I don’t run a franchise so these names or titles are not written in concrete which means you are free to call them whatever you want. The client handouts that I provide for you in the Personal Style training for each one can easily be amended.
Do you have different names for any of these?
- Or maybe you work with a completely different set of Style Personality types?
- NB. In all my Personal Style Courses, I also talk about two further Style Personality types – Ingenue and Gamine – and I explain why in the training
Reason 2
It doesn’t matter whether my client has come to me for business or personal mentoring, life purpose, image, presentation, etc. I need to diagnose all 3 of these characteristics for every single client I work with:
- Her physical colouring, i.e. tonal and/or seasonal direction
- How she thinks and behaves, i.e. her colour psychology type
- How she wants to be perceived, i.e. her style personality type
Only then do I have everything I need to be able to help her become more confident in how she presents herself and handles every occasion in her personal and business life. These insights allow me to create a personalised profile of my client.
You can print off a blank ‘Your Own Image Profile’ for each client from your Personal Style Course online training materials
Only then can I show her how to dress and present herself, so that she will look and feel fabulous – for, and on, every occasion.
When she feels confident in how she looks, this will allow her to relax and be who she really is and that, in turn, allows her to get what she really, really wants.
