Wonderful hair salons near me

I’ve been searching for hair salons near me for some time now that deliver a great cut, a brilliant colour and a wonderful experience. Now why is that so difficult?

Why do hair salons have to play some nasty loud irritating noise that masquerades as pop music or, worse, the local radio station? The last thing I want to listen to is some dimwit harping on about how the local council hasn’t taken away the rubbish “…that I clearly left next to my bin…”.

When it all becomes too much for me, I have been known in the hair salon to shout across the room at the radio, “For goodness sakes, get a life!” and then I’ve had to move on to yet another salon in a vain attempt to find some peace and quiet.

Hair salons near me in sunny Chesterfield

Is peace and quiet too much to ask?

A few weeks ago I found a salon that marketed itself on its website as ‘an oasis of calm and peace‘.

Balderdash, is all I can safely say to that after having to put up with disco-rap versions of golden oldie classics like ‘Gold’ and ‘I Will Survive’ for two extremely excruciating hours. I finally knew I’d lost it when I found myself relaxing to the original Tony Christie song ‘Avenues and Alleyways’. When I caught myself thinking, “At last – something with a melody!” and was rather miffed when the receptionist turned it off, it occurred to me that unless I fancied a short spell in jail, I would have to take matters into my own hands.

No, I will not be cutting my own hair and I may have to consider a mobile hair stylist. (Oh glory, I’ve come over all unnecessary…) But today, under direct supervision from the master himself, I mixed the potions he prescribed and coloured my own hair. I followed Scott Cornwall’s directions to the letter (well, ok, there was one teensy-weensy thing that I had to change…) and I must say that the colour is absolutely gorgeous.

The problem is that I just can’t see anything because my fringe is in my eyes… So if you know of a great hair stylist in the Chesterfield / Sheffield area who has something infinitely more interesting to say than, “Are you going out tonight?” or even a salon that actually is peaceful and quiet, please let me know!
